Assistant Coach - Women's Tennis

General Assignment:
Under direction of the Head Women's Tennis Coach and the administrative sport supervisor, incumbent is responsible for assisting with the recruitment, coaching, conditioning, training and athletic performance of student athlete team members. Promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the University. The incumbent will be responsible to assist in the education of student-athletes in the techniques, skills, and theory of the sport; recruit student-athletes of good athletic skill and good citizenship, according to the Code of Recruitment, as requested by the head coach; assist in supporting the conditioning and training of athletic team members in conjunction with strength/weight coaches, athletic trainers and team physicians; assist in the monitoring and maintenance of academic progress and eligibility status of student athlete team members in cooperation with Academic Support Services and support the Student Athlete Assistance Program; assist with the scheduling of contests, and coordinate team travel; assist with the transport of student-athletes in University vehicles; assist in the maintenance of compliance with NCAA, WAC, and University rules and regulations, policies and procedures; assist with the enforcement of participation, behavioral conduct and appearance rules and requirements and team rules; prepare data and reports as necessary in support of NCAA, Conference and University requirements, and perform other duties as may be assigned by the head coach; assist in the promotion of fundraising activities and/or the promotion of events, as requested; and communicate effectively with head coach and student athletes.

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in coaching, physical education, exercise science or related field from an accredited four-year institution
- Experience and demonstrated ability in the recruitment of student-athletes
- Ability to:
- Support the equity and diversity commitments of the department
- Cooperate professionally and collegially with the media, the community, the University and the Athletic department staff and administration
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and project a professional attitude
- A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
